From Ancient Persia to Mesopotamia to the Mediterranean, the sacred delights of the oud, Saz, Sarangi and darbouka are carved through eras and cultures. Jugurtha and Sander seek out treasures in their latest EP, excavating these traditional instruments and exhibiting them in a flurry of gorgeous deep sound waves.

Le Regard du Loup makes the instrument strings dance, from a light twirl gathering energy to a dramatic layered break. The rare Tunisian Oud - « thin piece of wood » in Arabic - used on this track is an enigmatic, at times forgotten Tunisian piece from the Andalusian times Combined with the Turkish Saz & an Indian Sarangi.

The heart of Tunisia’s identity is nurtured by the darbouka, a Middle-Eastern chalice-shaped drum dating back to Babylonia and Sumer from 1100 BBC. Sander plays one crafted by one of the last Tunisian darbouka makers, dangling rhythms that envelope the melody with warmth and character. Magic always occurs when art, history and technique become one - enjoy.
